Welcome to My Piano Blog

My Third Piano Recital

I was really nervous going into this one, but still felt really good about it too. There were snacks available, but I didn't eat anything because I didn't want to risk more nauseous than I already was. That being said, I told many of my friends and even one of my professors, who brought his wife along as well, about it and I was excited for them to see me play.

I played three pieces again. This time one classical and two from video games. The classical piece was Prelude In C Major composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. The video game pieces were The Roost from Animal Crossing composed by Kazumi Totaka and Athletic Theme from Super Mario Bros. 3 composed by Koji Kondo.

Prelude In C Major has to be one of my favorite pieces to play, and it's not just because it's simple and easy. It's been too long since I analyzed it in a music course, but there's something about the chord progression throughout the entirety of it that feels so relaxing to both play and listen to. It was one of the pieces of music I listened to a lot during the thick of the pandemic. I was enamored by it so much that I even set it as an alarm on my phone to wake me up in the morning. Needless to say, performing it basically went without a hitch.

While I don't really much memories with the second piece, it's a soothing track that pops up whenever I listen to video game music compilation videos on YouTube. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be played on a guitar or ukulele, but it seemed like it would make for a great piano piece. I looked for some sheet music for it and it was just as great as I hoped. It was just the kind of piece I needed to play to calm the nerves a bit.

I was a little bit nervous for the last one. I had to be jumpy with my hands since it has a lot of staccato notes and has a decent amount of over hand leaps with the left hand. Thankfully, nothing went wrong this time! In fact, many of the people who watched it told me it was their favorite piece.

After this rectial going almost perfectly well, I was really looking forward to the next on in the spring.
