Long Awaited Performance
I finally learned a full piece all on my own! The last third of it was more difficult than I thought it was gonna be, but I eventually locked in and got it down. I feel really proud that I was able to do this.
I have a lot of memories I have with this piece and the game it comes from: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. You actually play the song to put the souls of characters who have died with deep regrets to rest. I remember watching all kinds of videos on YouTube about the game's dark themes and unsettling atmosphere. I remember the playthroughs I watched to see what it was like to play it. Everyone would always bring Song of Healing up as a notable music track from the game. The endless amount of Remixes on YouTube can also attest to just how amazing it is.
In addition to the nostalgia I have, learning Song of Healing is bittersweet in a way. I mentioned in a previous post that I would've played this for my Intro to Music Theory course in college if it wasn't for the Covid pandemic lockdown. Finally coming back to it makes me think about my time in college and all the people I met there. I wonder how playing this for one of my recitals would have went.
With this piece out of the way, I'll be charting completely new territory next week.
