Getting My Bearings
For the second week of playing the piano again, I finally relearned the entirety of Prelude In C Major. I felt really proud. I was proud not only because I was able to play the full piece, but also because I commited myself to practicing instead of this just being a "one and done" kind of thing. As I played the piece more and more, I could feel my skills and touch coming back to me. Playing softly and loudly is a really simple thing, but it felt satisfying to redevelop my touch for dynamics.
I tried to take a better recording for the video compared to last time. You could see my laptop in the previous post, so I put my phone on the top of the piano in portrait mode this time around. Unfortunately, the camera was too close to the keys and my hands, so my left hand eventually come out of the view at some point. Claustrophobic camera angle aside, I felt really good about this session. Next week is one of the first pieces I've ever played on the piano.
